CD NOVA TO REPRESENT TRANSGARD IN CANADA, EXPANDING AVAILABILITY OF ANIMAL-DETERRENT FENCING

(YORK, Pa.) — TransGard, which has installed proven animal-prevention fencing at more than 3,000 substations in North America, announced today it has reached an agreement with British Columbia-based CD Nova, a leading distributor serving the Canadian electric power industry.

CD Nova will expand the availability of TransGard’s patented substation fencing to utilities, cooperatives and other energy providers in all of Canada’s provinces and territories. This is the first time TransGard has partnered with a Canadian distributor — a move required to serve growing interest north of the border.

TransGard developed the only substation fencing that deters climbing animals by delivering a mild electric shock — a humane technique that, according to IEEE, offers the most effective barrier against animal incursion. TransGard prevents outages caused by squirrels, snakes, raccoons, cats and a range of other animals.

TransGard sought a well-connected distributor in Canada because of growing demand from that market, noted Bill Reichard, president of TransGard.

“Substation managers across Canada have experienced the same challenges — and costly outages — we see in the U.S,” Reichard said. “With CD Nova, TransGard will have the ideal partner to serve the Canadian market.”
